As promised in my welcome post, I will be sharing my exploration of St James Asylum, a former mental hospital located in Milton, Portsmouth, UK. It is being converted into Luxury apartments, and Pjlivestry is the group behind the conversion. They are making quick work of it I must say, whenever...
Ridge Lea has been many things: Mental institute, hospital and now a ragged old box, remnant of its old days, covered in graffiti. Although it isn't as beautiful or big as its brother building Lancaster Moor Hospital it still is a flashback to the past's horrors. If you choose to visit I...
A nice local one for me. A little bit late but a few nice things still. Place wi be demolished and replaced with houses very soon. The new hospital is opposite. Be aware that there is security on site.
Back in 2018 I posted this thread:
https://www.oblivionstate.com/community/threads/10-years-of-asylum-seeking.12405/
I kind of thought the jig was mostly up as far as asylums were concerned by then, and each time there was another, I'd have this kind of melancholic feeling that it was going to...
The former general hospital was built at the beginning of the 20th century. After around 100 years it was shut down despite numerous protests by medical staff and the local population. Keeping it in operation was considered "unprofitable" - allegedly also because of not meeting the modern...
History:
The year was 1954 and the local city where this place is located faced a major problem. The current hospital which dated back to the begin of the 1900s was outdated and too small. After this problem, plans were made to build a new state of art hospital. In 1958 it was finished, for the...
Royal Papworth
A little while back I posted my initial report from the site from a few days after closure and as you'd expect it was full of equipment. Living fairly close to the hospital and with a few few hours to kill we decided to have mooch and see what was left.
Spoiler alert, nothing...
Intro
It's a well known site and has been well and truly done to death until recently.
With 8 Operating rooms sharing 17 Lights, A morgue, A&E, Numerous wards and a heavy mix of natural decay and grime it has always been a good one to explore.
The Hospital
As mentioned it has been done way too...
Hospital Of Bleeding Doors
It's been a little while since I last posted a thread and will probably remain a rare occurrence, if I'm honest. But anyway, here a thread.
The Hospital

The Building
Former specialist hospital in orthopedics, rheumatology, and respiration lays dormant in an English woodland. After closing in 2004 and remaining relatively forgotten the hospital fell into an unexpected level of decay.

History
The Surrey County Pauper Lunatic Asylum was originally established in 1841 under the County Asylum’s act which was passed in 1809. This meant that counties became legally obliged to provide an asylum for their psychiatric patients or 'lunatics' as they were then known as. Due to...
History:
Manicomio Di R was built in 1870 as an place for the poor, but after a couple of years it was transformed into an Lunatic Asylum. Electroshock therapy was used extensively here, along with experimental operations on the nervous system. Facilities included a laboratory of clinical...
A little while before our first of two visits I had been surfing the internet for hospital closures, looking for a site some way away. Then, out of nowhere, this pops up....
At first I was skeptical and decided to have a little dig in the forums and almost nothing turned up.
So it was...
Visited back in January to relive the good old days.
History:
Cardiff was initially very reluctant to spend money on building its own lunatic asylum and was boarding its patients at The County Asylum in Bridgend. By the turn of the twentieth century Cardiff had continued with this out-sourcing...
The Intro
After stumbling across photos of the beedy eye'd operating lights back in early 2018 I'd spent quite a while looking for the site. Only to realise it's almost 150 miles away, which on trains that run mostly on diesel, is not fun. So we put it off until September and went for two...
Afternoon,
Thought id upload a report from my visit to Wales in jan just gone. It was a freezing cold day and we had left early hours to get there before the rest of the tourbus turned up :)
Heres some history from googles...
The population of Cardiff had expanded greatly, from under 20,000...
Alright, this is my first post on here but I will get right to it. This hospital is trashed beyond belief but was still fun to explore.
It was shut down in 1992 after the USAF pulled out of George AFB following the end of the cold war. These pictures were taken in December of 2018.
The hospital first opened in October 1889 as the Free Hospital for Women and Children. In 1903 children ceased to be treated and in 1904 it became the Samaritan Free Hospital for Women. It had 88 beds in two sections; the surgical side with 11 wards of two beds each and 3 larger convalescent...
