So most of you have seen this location before if you havent been already... but here's my take on the place.
Explored with Raz & Jord
Bit of background;
Stolen from the internet and i cant remember where :ugeek:
Willington Power Station was in fact two, almost entirely separate...
A little History
Due to population growth and the refusal of the Commissioners in Lunacy to sanction an enlargement of the County Asylum, in 1865 the Leicester Corporation decided to build an asylum for the town’s pauper lunatics. A 30 acre site in Humberstone was purchased for the new...
This was a random spot whilst driving through Llandudno, a quick bit of googling revealed it was abandoned in 2008 and has Grade II listed status. We figured it might be worth a nose around so went down there early in the morning and found our way inside. The place has been mostly stripped but...
I Was unsure on if I should post a report on this but thought I would throw a short one together. If you are in the area I would advise popping over even though there's only the cooling towers left its pretty cool to be stood inside one!
 Visited with Fat Panda & Hamtagger...
A recent evening visit to this old Asylum. A place that has been on the radar for a while but for various reasons has always been a tricky one.
One part has been converted for a number of years, the other part was partially in use by the NHS up until last year (I think). Demolition / conversion...
I think most people know the history of this place. It was a power station in Willington (Derbyshire) until the final part closed in late 90's and was subsequently demolished. The only thing left standing now is the 5 cooling towers and the nearby sub station.
There isnt a huge amount to see...
Visited with some friends from the Netherlands at the end of October, we had planned to make a day of visiting HF4 but we were thwarted in our efforts to get into the main power station so we settled for the cooling towers at HF4 and IM (and a couple of other sites too). Both of these are huge...
I have passed this place on the A38 hundreds of times but never seam to have time to stop and take a look, its been like this for years and looking at some old reports I have missed its prime by a good few years.
I was heading up the track Friday evening and decided to take a detour from the...
We stopped off here on the way back from the DRI. I have seen them many times from a distance but this was he first time I had seen them close up. They were a lot bigger than I thought.
There are five towers in total and they are all that remains from both Willington A & Willington B Power...
So with my car off the road for now and desperation for possibly the last explore of 2013, I did a call around and finally found someone to drive us. Ben picked me up at 8:30am and we went to pick up other Ben at about 9. Destination: a college in the midlands.
We decided to go further North...
Well I thought my year was all done and dusted for explores but a week ago Mr. Landie Man gets on it and says do you want to go for a trip on the 28th...and so we did.
We eventually got going with him and a non-member in tow, Willington being the first call as neither of them had seen it and...
So today I FINALLY got out exploring again, after what seemed like an interminable wait. My good friend contacted me yesterday evening to say he could escape the wife for the day and so off we poddled!
Willington was the first stop, there is certainly no better or bigger group of derelict...
I've always wanted to visit the towers at sunset to see how the colour of the light bounces around inside the towers
I was on my way past so decided to pop in
I've lifted a few covers for the utility tunnels in a hope that during all this hot weather the water level drops enough to have a...
My first non local explore. Was a big adventure for a 19 year old!
2009:
Many thanks to Liam_CH for showing us round the Unisys towers in Brent, showing us all the best places. Explored by Liam, Myself and my friend James, we arrived bright and early, (me already tired at 10:30am...
Another explore with the long suffering, again, she declined the excitement, and remained in the car!!
Tiny bit of info:Cooling Towers from the old power station that shut in 1999.The towers are 300 feet high..218 feet in diameter at base..145 feet in diameter at the top and 122 feet in diameter...
I don't tend to do much live exploring but id never pass is up as I'm sure most of you would agree that would just be stupid, even considering i have explored here before.
As always i got the usual suspects together myself, NeonNine, Ibex, Spook and Anoxia and it was time to embark on yet...
