The chateau was built for Dominique Alexis Brasseur. In 1890, when he moved to the small castle Bxxxxxxxxx he had built between Yyyyyy and Zzzzzzz, he spent quality time at the manor house while his son Robert was there recovering from typhus.
He was a member of the Chamber of Deputies from 1866 to 1899. From 1891 (nomination: January 27, 1891) to 1894 he was mayor of the city of Luxembourg. After that he was a member of the city council until 1899.
Dominique Alexis Brasseur was a co-founder of several foundries, including the Société des Hauts Fourneaux Luxembourgeois in Esch-sur-Alzette.
After that, the chateau was used as a hotel for a number of years before it was purchased by an Arab family.
Why the family then gave up the chateau is not exactly clear and there are only rumours.
The head of the family is said to have passed away and the family then withdrew and left the property to themselves.
