The North Wales Hospital (locally known as Denbigh Mental) was a hospital for people with psychiatric illnesses located in Denbigh, North Wales.
Designed by architect Carl Johan Aru to originally accommodate between 60 and 200 patients, the building dates back to 1848, and originally had its own farm and gasworks. Planned for closure by Enoch Powell from the 1960s, it was closed in sections from 1991 to 2002.
Anyone who knows me will be aware that I more or less live in this place and probably spend more time here than I do in my own house.
I never had the guts to climb up the coal silos until recently due the the awkward way up and the cut off ladder.
It was well worth it for the view of the whole hospital site though, here is what I saw:
