An abandoned tanker with unknown content has been moored at XXXX at the pier for over two years.
According to the informant, it only changed its location a few meters forwards or backwards in that time.
In the meantime, in the last warm summer weeks, the ship was discovered by young people as a “cool location” and used for parties. In the aftermath of this, all the window panes in the tanker's cabin were screwed together with OSB panels and blocked.
According to information from the Waterways and Shipping Office (WSA), the tanker is an illegally abandoned ship belonging to a foreign owner.
It is under regular supervision by the WSA's branch office and the situation is currently assessed in such a way that the ship does not pose any acute danger. However, the divers from the shipping authority could not find any serious damage to the hull.
It is still buoyant, leaks are not recognizable.
Information on stored, water-polluting substances could not be given.
There was no way of towing the ship away and scrapping it, and no access to the foreign owner.
The ship is 85 m long, 8.20 m wide and has a draft of 2.71 m.
It was built in 1958 by the Lanke shipyard, which was founded in 1919, in Berlin and is powered by a 750 hp KHD engine.
Now it lies lonely and deserted on the pier and rusts to itself.
