Great Britain Gisleham Brick & Pipe Works - Feb 2022

A local mooch for me this one, decided to take the dog for a look around here, I didnt do the place justice as I would have liked to go inside the buildings but due to having pooch with me, I didnt want to risk her paws.

Some info from Suffolk heritage:

Brickworks operated by Gisleham Brickworks 1933-1950; Gisleham Brick & Pipe Works Ltd 1950-1967. Hand-made bricks for fireplaces 1985
Brickworks started in 1934 in competition with GSE 026. Four Scotch kilns built in 1934. Replaced by three down draught kilns, which remain on site in 1950 to 1952. After 1950 production concentrated on land drainage pipes. In brickworks last years Banhams of Hoxne ran the works, producing drainage pipes, but the venture was not a success and the works were closed in 1984. Most of the mobile machinery etc. probably sold in sale after closure

Those old kilns are great. Good shout keeping your dog safe. Not worth the risk for a couple of photos

No it's not, she has been on a few explores but mainly to dog friendly ones (Stenigot / Nocton Hall, she does enjoy RAF Coltishall as well )
