HMS Wildfire was an underground communications training establishment and Royal Naval Reserve headquarters in Chatham (Gillingham) commissioned in 1964 and paid off in 1993. Sub-Brit has a comprehensive history on their site here > http://www.subbrit.org.uk/sb-sites/sites/w/wildfire/index2.shtml
Had a great evening poking around in here despite forgetting my torch batteries and lamp like a pro. Luckily others were on hand with spare batteries, and spliffs, lots of spliffs! Good to see some familiar faces and meet some new ones. Massive thanks to @Obscurity, @Space Invaderand @Wiccaman for giving us a shout, this was an opportunity not to be missed as only a few people have ventured inside here since it's closure.
