In the 19th century the city developed more and more into a health resort. Many parks and bathing establishments were created.
P. was known as a healing and seaside resort with mud baths and long sandy beaches. Many guests also traveled from Germany and Sweden.
In 1939 the German residents left the city and the Red Army invaded there in 1940. Just 1.5 years later it was occupied by the Wehrmacht. In September 1944 it was occupied again by the Red Army and became part of the Soviet Union. Here too it was an important health resort.
The hospital was built right opposite the prison after the Second World War.
It was still used after the curtain fell, only to be replaced by a modern clinic.
Unfortunately the building was no longer furnished.
However, the decay, particularly the peeling paint on the walls, was quite noticeable.
