After our rather disappointing start to our inaugural Belgium road trip we made our second stop at IM Power Station..now I’ve been up close and personnel with Battersea but this place was huge !
After entering via the very secure fence we walked around for ages to find a way in, interrupted a courting couple (seriously too cold for those kind of shenanigans – find an abandoned hotel)…they have done a very good job of sealing this place up! Splitting up into two groups we finally found an unusual way to enter the main site itself..dam hard work walking up that conveyor ;-) especially when the floor is made of wood and was surprisingly spring like !
We finally made it in to the main building! It’s vast! We’d arrived a bit late in the day and with the light going, the storm clouds gathering we shot what we could.
They’ve done a very good job of recycling the metal in this place! We even found a very nice pair of shiny bolt cutters!
Grabbed some internal shots and then headed over to the cooling tower..which I’m sure you have seen before many many times on the interweb ! Got the usual group shot with added smoke effects !
If you know where this place is then you’ll know the whole town offers much in the way of industrial derps ! Looking forward to a return trip !
I was intrigued as to where the yellow pipe went...
I mean..who designs this kind of thing and what did it do !?
The place was full of pipe porn...
Inside the cooling tower..
The hole of doom...that green stuff was seriously slippery !
Now..how many concrete blocks make up a cooling tower...
We finally saw the light and called it a day..
Thanks for looking - we went in March..it was cold...in fact it was bloody freezing !.. we beat the real snow by a few days !
