The building was originally run by the daughters of Saint Francis of Assisi and was built in the 1920s. The order embraced nursing, teaching and education and decided in the 1930s to found a nursing school and train nurses.

After the Second World War, the institution was nationalized and the nunnery was dissolved.
A communist party school replaced the former nursing school. In 1956 it became a Children's Lung Hospital and Medical School and later the ****** County Lung Hospital. The building was extended in 1975 and became part of the hospital *******.

Ten years later, in 1985, the institute became an independent county hospital ****** and in 1997 again a department of hospital ********.
Subsequently, in 2007, it was closed simultaneously with the National Institute of Psychiatry and Neurology (OPNI) and all the equipment was transported to the hospital ******.

The complex, consisting of six buildings on a 14,000 square meter forest plot, has been empty for years. In the meantime it served as a film set for a series.

The renovation and construction planning is currently underway, and construction is scheduled to begin at the beginning of next year.
The Church Health Education Center will be part of the investment and is expected to train 200-220 nurses annually.
