Belgium Monastere du Roi, Belgium 2013

[urbexosaurus]

One of those locations that has been on my to do list for way to long.

By the time we finally managed to pay this one a visit, the rebuilding was well underway and lots of the coolest features were gone or inaccessible.

Still managed to get a couple of decent shots, but wasn't what it used to be anymore.

This enourmous monastry was once a partly monastry and partly care home for religious people.

They are now rebuilding it, but I'm not sure what new purpose this building will get.

A guess you didn't manage to get to the famous stairs and corridor then?? We had to shift building materials around when we wanted to do it.

Indeed, unfortunately that staircase was completely inaccessible. They build a whole wooden box around it, I assume for protection, but it was totally impossible to take a pic or even go up there. :-(

Thats how it goes dude, they do build hefty boxes around stuff to protect it. Its going to be apartments in time and they will be really nice judging by the rooms upstairs

This place was epic! You got some great shots there..it was well stripped when we went in March..one of the easiest places I've ever got in! Belgium sure is the place to be !
