D40 would be a nice choice, if you look on ebay for the D50 or D70 they could also be within your price range if you buy second hand. I would say the D40x would be a great choice, although somewhat more pricey, you might even be able to find a D80 second hand for that price if you look hard enough

Are you looking new or second hand?? for £350 second hand, you'll get a very nice DSLR, or you could go for a cheaper second hand camera, and have a little left over towards a nice lens to go with it??
