Got to say this was a pretty wicked night out. A load of us piling in to the limo and taking a cruise over to Liverpool with just one thing on our minds....Paddy's Wigwam!
I'd spent all day stressing about doing this. It's high and there is lots of stained glass and having no idea of how we were actually meant to get on it I had visions of me accidentally crashing through it. Just another wtf am I doing here explore lol!
After a couple of failed attempts to get on it Bigjobs was a man on a mission, there was no way we were going home until we'd got to the top and before we knew it he'd hatched a plan and it was game on, time was ticking and if we didn't get a wriggle on they'd be calling Sunday Service before we were done and much as shouting "Hello this is God talking" from the roof mid-service may have been epically funny none of us really fancied being there once the vicar turned up!
Anyway getting our arses in to gear we headed on up and before long we were all stood on the huge crown looking out over Liverpool. Fucking awesome fun!!!!
Overview
'Liverpool Metropolitan Cathedral, officially known as the Metropolitan Cathedral of Christ the King, is the seat of the Archbishop of Liverpool and the mother church of the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Liverpool in Liverpool, England. The Grade II* Metropolitan Cathedral is one of Liverpool's many listed buildings. To distinguish it from the Anglican Liverpool Cathedral, locals call it the "Catholic Cathedral." Nicknames for the building include "Paddy's Wigwam" and "The Mersey Funnel."
The cathedral's architect, Frederick Gibberd, was the winner of a worldwide design competition. Construction began in 1962 and was completed in 1967. Earlier designs for a cathedral were proposed in 1853, 1933, and 1953, but none were completed.'
I am generally way too lazy to take a tripod so these were taken balancing my camera on random things hoping the wind wouldn't blow too much!
