The Siemens-Schuckertwerke built this power plant in 1926 with an initial output of 8000 kW. Almost 1 year later it was put into operation. The power plant had a modular structure so that it could be expanded at any time. Turbine 2 and another cooling tower were put into operation just 1 year later. Another 2 years later, turbine 3 and boiler 4 went into operation. Between 1940 and 42 there were further expansions. Among other things, another chimney was built and turbine 4 was put into operation. With a total of 4 turbines and 5 steam boilers, the maximum output of 54 MW was also achieved.
After the war, two more cooling towers were built and the power plant was fundamentally modernized. In the 1970s, the power station was converted from 60 kV to 100 kV and then also received larger transformers.
Almost 40 years ago, the power plant was placed under monument protection.
In April 1992 the last turbo set was switched off and the power plant went out of service.
