Not had thee best few months of late,so decided on a day on my own exploring. The up side of doing it alone is you only have yourself to please and can take as long as you want..I usually pee fellow explorers off taking far too long taking a simple pic.
So I arranged to visit the Royalty Cinema in Harbourne,Birmingham on a lovely sunny morning early September this year and I have to say I loved every minute inside her so to speak. There is a plethora of history on this cinema so I will use it from my own webhost:
Located in the Harborne district of southwest Birmingham, at the corner of High Street and Greenfield Road. The Royalty Cinema was opened on 20th October 1930 with Maurice Chevalier in "The Love Parade". It was built for and operated by the local independent Selly Oak Pictures Ltd. The Royalty Cinema was taken over by the Associated British Cinemas(ABC) chain in March 1935. ABC closed the cinema on 2nd November 1963 with Cliff Robertson in "P.T.109". It was converted into a Mecca Bingo Club, and in 2010 it is operating as a Gala Bingo Club.In 2011 however, the police raided the building and found a cannabis growing factory in the attic..the building has remained closed ever since.
An old picture taken in the 1960`s
And mine
I need a drink so I start behind the bar
Upstairs in one of many offices
Top floor now
I need to take a seat after all those stairs
The morning sun is beaming through one of only a few windows in this area
The windows are in lovely condition
The Battery room
Nice bit of originality still here
I can only think this was some kind of paternoster
Time for refreshments
And a final piece of lush glass.
Thank you all for looking..I really enjoyed my morning here and it cleared my brain muchly.
