Already in 1092 a monastery was founded on the same place. In 1525 it was then plundered and destroyed.
In 1865 the current castle was built. However, the site had been in use again since 1601 and several buildings were erected.
Some of them were integrated into the palace complex.
Around 50 years after the construction of the castle, the new castle church was built.
In GDR times there was a hotel in the castle, which only opened in 2001 due to construction defects.

The castle was then sold several times and was always an object of speculation. Likewise, the object employed the judiciary several times.
Unfortunately, the entire complex is now empty and is falling into disrepair.
