A castle has been built on this site since the 9th century and the site has a rich history. It was destroyed, rebuilt and destroyed again and this has continued during the centuries.
The current castle was built at the end of the 18th century and has always been in hands of counts and dukes. The baron who owned it during World War II used foreign workers instead of the poor locals. After the war, when the Soviets took over part of the country, he was arrested and accused of helping the Nazi’s during the war, and was put in a working camp, where he died only 2 years later. A very famous countess, of a family who nowadays is still very known, owned the castle but all her possessions were expropriated and given to local farmers to start up their business. The countess left and fled to the western part of the country.
By the end of the 1960′s the castle changed became a hospital, specialized in child psychiatry. This was the case until the end of the 1990′s when the hospital left and there was no new use for the castle.

The "Lost Church" not actually very lost at all as it's pretty much in the grounds of the castle.
Only small but i really like it, nicely decayed.
Cheers for looking
