History;
SSI Redcar is a large steelworks based in the river Tees. The steelworks has the second largest blast furnace in Europe.
The site was found in 1917 by Dorman Long. The site closed in 2009 due to light termination of the contract. In 2011 the site got re-bought by Thai-based Sahaviriya Steel Industries and reopened in 2012. Then closed again in 2015 due to steel prices and no buyers.

Explored with @SpiderMonkeyand @AndyK! on a busy weekend, decided to go check out the blast furnace and all the rest of the wonderful big metal things. As we made out way to the top of the furnace, a tall chimney was spotted in the distance. So off we went to the big chimney to be welcomed by more wonderful metal things and a hall of old turbines and cranes and everything you would want on an explore. Even a man in a blue suit that nearly caught us if he wasn't used to doors closing on there own.
Thanks!
