After a rather late evening at a Belgium Chinese and an early start from our “cheap†hotel we headed for this monastery in the heart of a small town.
Being the brazen bunch we are, parked right outside and walked in, well it was a bit of a giveaway..old derelict abandoned monastery with a bloody huge shiny new crane parked right in the driveway !
After a rather undignified entry through a very large open window…note to self..next time try “the bloody doors†we were in..it’s undergoing renovations into flats and apartments so it’s been stripped mostly..there are some gems left though..you just have to look hard..
The acoustics in the place are unreal..so attempts at being stealthy and quiet were pretty much useless..although most of the noise was made by the team of Germans that were also on a Sunday morning urbex mission!
There are lots of corridors and lots of stairs !
The highlight for me was the bell tower, with the original bells and equipment..a beautiful peaceful place..
You can play with my organ anytime !
The main staircase
Hooray..we found god !
The Pink Door
Everyone has a cross to bare
The main chapel
Say a prayer..
The many, many footprints of many, many urbex feet…
Walk into the light..
Arched ceiling..
Another corridor shot..
The bell tower..
Ding dong !
It all looks very modern from the outside !
The place was huge and with other targets on our Belgium weekender list we left after a couple of hours..enjoy the pics..the place has been photographed to death of late..
