This naval base was formerly top secret and is now known as a historic submarine port or "degaussing facility". The demagnetization of ships and submarines was carried out with the help of underwater systems that made their hulls largely unrecognizable for magnetic mines. The tool for this lay at a great depth in the water of the bay and was therefore invisible to the people. The process could last for hours and the degree of magnetization of the ship was measured and assessed as it passed through the passage.
The entire port area was closed during Soviet times. Today the port houses a tourist center and a small port. Visitors can learn about the history of the base, stroll along the wharf, and explore the ruins of the buildings.
On the opposite side of the bay, there was another institute that researched the degaussing of ships and submarines.
