Man Im on a roll so thought Id carry on with some old reports. This place isnt your typical ww2 airfield in that most of it is still used as a light aifcraft airfield, hellicopter training ground & business park.
The aerodrome opened in 1928 and during the Second World War the aerodrome, as RAF Sywell, was used as a training facility (Tiger Moths) and later an important centre for the repair of Wellington bombers; extensive sheds from this time still remain on the site. Among World War II pilots who underwent training at Sywell were Pierre Clostermann and Paddy Finucane, who soloed here.
Many aerial shots for the film Battle of Britain were taken over the airport and nearby area.
Thanks to @BakesFinds who gave me the heads up on this place as despite being so local I didnt know anything remained
There is not much here tbh but the typical mess buildings & stanton shelters. I guess I was lucky here as myself & my lad visited some time ago & a shelter that was obviously used by a local landowner for storage was open!

Anyway said shelter was full of tat really, it looked like a car boot sellers wet dream but was interesting to see, As always I have quite a few pics so on with them!

Who knew a headline could be more appropriate today than ever!
No Idea what this is but I took it there!
Thanks For Looking
