The ruins of Tabley old hall is located on a island surrounded by a moat
Tabley old hall was built on this site c.1380
In 16th century alternations were made to the hall and in the 17th century the timber and plaster house was incased in brick on three sides
Further additions took place in the 19th century before parts of the hall collapsed in 1927
And the building was abandoned
The ruins of table old hall are listed grade 11
There are also traces of the old boat house on the islands south west side
There’s a legend that the bodies of a husband and wife were buried behind a wall in the house
It is said the man was killed in a duel and the women later committed suicide and their ghosts were sometimes reported leaning over a balust
The explore it’s self was a nightmare to actually get onto the island a pair off chest waders were needed walking threw the shallowest part of the lake which was still about 4ft and I had to carry a friend on my back too 😂
