Stumbled upon the research for this place earlier this year with a few conflicting bits of research took a bit of head scratching, Finally decided to swing by on the way home the other week and i wasnt dissappointed,
Rumoured to be 17th, 18th or 19th century or older ?! was either carved for wealth or for religion, plenty of talk about ancient christian figures and pagans, warlocks and dark rituals!
What i do know is; they are quite enclosed, full of cobwebs, spiders, very dark and uniquely carved in the sandstone. Set in a curved formation the pillars are on different levels joined by handcarved steps and leading to a chamber with a seat? and an altar around the far end of the curve. There were some candles and tree branches with ribbons attached littered at the foot of one of the altars, maybe some carvings, childlike name scralls all over the walls and teenage rubbish.
