My first major roadtrip over multiple days took place in October 2011, a three-day trip that took in locations from Atherstone to Stoke-on-Trent and finally up to Birkenhead.
We woke up in Stoke to truly awful weather, the rain was pounding down outside and after leaving the hotel we had 3 failures in quick succession including one location twice! We were cursing our luck when we drove past a large factory building which looked pretty empty so having no idea what it was I told my mate to park up so we could check it out. A quick recce revealed 3 issues - one, it was on a very busy main road. Two, right next to it was the old pottery factory shop that was still open for business. And three, just across the road from it was the local police station, with a steady flow of related vehicles moving about! But in for a penny and all that, we did brazen access 101 and, finding a window that led us into the place proper we were in.
Now we had no idea what to expect as we still didn't know who the place used to belong to, but needless to say none of us expected what we actually stumbled into! It was one of those moments that makes you stop, look at each others expressions and realise you are thinking exactly the same thing, 'what the hell!'.
Excuse the quality of some of the shots, most were taken handheld in rubbish light.
There was a whole case of these individually wrapped sticky penis toys....needless to say they got stuck on a fair few things.
Pallets full of brand new B&Q garden tables
This was less than 1/4 of the floor space visible here!
Sadly the upper levels were securely locked.
It turned out when the factory closed it was leased out to various businesses, one of which, a wholesaler, occupied most of the ground floor. I guess when they went belly up nobody bothered to clear it out.
