On the western outskirts of Prypjat lies the small fire station ChNPP.
The approximately 40 men of this fire station were requested directly after the accident of the nuclear power plant and were, together with the nuclear fire-brigade, the first liquidators. One of them was Lieutenant Vladimir Pravik (http://chernobylproject.blogspot.com/2011/08/death-of-vladimir-pravik.html)
Almost all got very high, fatal radiation doses.
28 of them died a few weeks later in the 6th Moscow Special Hospital and were buried there on the Mitinskoje cemetery.
I also attached a picture of before the catastrophe.
Unfortunately, the photographer is unknown to me.
