This place is immense, first time here for me and loved every single moment! So we know from history the Lunatic Act 1808; Most county's were suppossed to have their own asylum, obviously the poorer county's just didnt have the cash and an englishman had seen the marginalised welshmen in english asylums and put plans in place for a build.
Building work started in 1844 this place was completed having used local stone and the clock tower was donated by the land owners wife, by 1848 its was open and ready to house 200 patients.
Over crowding was a massive issue here and in 1899 extensions were built to offer "therapies" and allow another further 300 patients.
This Grade II listed building has been empty since 1995 and is dddd derelict!
A trust has been involved in the place ensuring the stablilty of the structure, there is evidence of this in the main sections..
On a personal note; I found out my great aunties' sister went and died in here.....
spoooky! LOL
Anyway enough waffling
Fruit Basket chimmney pots? surely not!
Cells anyone? Lots to choose from...
Trip to social services prehaps!
Corridors of derp..
Main section...
Thanks for looking!
