Hey OS. This one was visited first in early 2013 with a non-member, at that time there were beds, some equipment and furniture left over. All the lights were on and at that time almost every door was locked, only a few rooms were accessible, security based inside and doing occasional internal...
I know this one has been done to death so I'll keep it short.
HISTORY
The asylum was built between 1844-1848 and housed mentally ill patients from the surrounding North Wales area. It continued to grow in size with various renovations and extensions and by 1956 was able to house in excess of...
First post so please be gentle and pull me up on any incorrect info :)
HISTORY
The Staffordshire County Asylum opened in 1818 in the town of Stafford, it was one of the first asylums designed for non private patients nicknamed the ‘pauper’s asylum’. It was designed by architect Joseph...
A weekend away for the Silly O’clock Crew we decided to venture up to Scotland to meet up with our good friends and Scotland’s finest explorers Baron Scotland, Stussy and Sickbag Scattergun. Destination number 1 was the infamous RCH Asylum. Crack of dawn was our choice time for...
Hey again, a bit late on this one as it was visited on the 'Smelly Sheep' tour with AndyK! Which is a bit further back now. Really liked this place as you don't normally see hospitals like this in such good condition! With security based inside it gives you a bit more of a buzz (though they must...
After my initial introduction on OS I have been severely lacking in effort getting any reports up (apologies!) so though I might as well start with one of the "classics"!
History
Everybody knows the history of Sevs by now but for parity’s sake…
Severalls Hospital in Colchester...
I visited that famous Welsh asylum with The Elusive and two other splorers. Wonderful place, could have been there for ages :-). Just posting some of my shots :-).
Thanks for looking :-)
Hey UE chums,
I wont spin one out for here as almost all of you will have seen this place in person or have read several reports about it, so you'll know it well enough. For our friends over the water a quick Google will bring you up to speed on the history and disposal scandal attached to this...
The explore...
A very early start again, a liquid monster breakfast, and a couple of hour drive down to collect S9, then onwards to begin the longest explore to date. High spirits and expectations were quickly dashed on arrival as we spotted a hi-viz from a distance near our planned entry point...
Not much to say about Sevs that hasn't been said before in terms of history. The Web is full of backstories and info on the 300-acre asylum and it is worth the effort to spend some time checking various links because the history is immsense and few places have been so well recorded like Sevs...
Visited during a road trip across the US late last year. Getting in took plenty of energy and ingenuity but it was well worth the effort!
A couple of rooms hosted a very cool graveyard of technology
This is perhaps the most intact of all the remaining abandoned asylums in the UK. With it being located in my home town I have been desperate to get inside here for ages and I took a friend who was just as keen, he is also a pro at jumping over high things which turned out to be quite handy...
I know, I know, Denbigh ..oops sorry...erm...that famous asylum in North Wales ( :P ) has been done a lot but since I just visited for the first time I thought I deserve to be a bit annoying by posting one more report.
I really won't say anything with regards to the history of the place as the...
Well second time here this time with Cunningplan, with the intention of scaling the coal silos, see other places not yet explored and play more with the new fisheye. Still so much to see here. The weather was cool with some sunshine and great cloud cover. Enjoy peeps.
First stop was the chapel...
I currently live about 2 miles from St. Johns and I've been driving past this place for almost a year now. Access has eluded me on a few previous failed attempts, but recently got lucky and spent 5 1/2 hours exploring the innards. I was conscious that this location has been reported on a lot so...
Another adventure… this time the abandoned Ivy Hospital which was previously a Lunatic Asylum before being adopted by the NHS and becoming a standard general hospital. Visited with a whole bunch of people, Donna, Cowboy, Matt, Andy, Mr Costello, Mars Lander and Sssshhhh to be exact. Not...
This place is immense, first time here for me and loved every single moment! So we know from history the Lunatic Act 1808; Most county's were suppossed to have their own asylum, obviously the poorer county's just didnt have the cash and an englishman had seen the marginalised welshmen in english...
My 2nd visit to the abandoned buildings of Lier Mental Hospital.
Our plan was to explore building A. That was the most visited building, and also the most thrashed. My fellow splorer had been there many times. On my first visit there we were in building A at night, basically walking through...
[CENTER]St. Lawrence's Asylum (Cornwall County Asylum), Bodmin, Cornwall
Seffy and END-PROC.
Some history for you, seeing as this place has only recently cropped back up:
After this place had been described to me a while ago, I did some searching online, and instantly wanted it. To be honest...
