Blue Chapel is part of a former Franciscan monastery in Italy.
The area above the altar is painted blue and the high windows flood the room with light, creating an amazing blue glow behind a hanging Jesus figure on the cross.
The chapel is beautiful.
The church and the decorations are in remarkably good condition - the benches are all still in place.
On both sides are niches with sarcophagi.
The rest of the monastery is pretty empty and decayed as moisture penetrates through the broken roof.
There are a large number of rooms in the building that were mainly used as living spaces.
From 1930 until the closure of 1984, a church boarding school was located here.
After that, it was still a police school for 10 years before here in 1997, transitional, refugees were accommodated.
Since the monastery is a bit remote, there is virtually no vandalism and no graffiti.
