The artillery barracks of the Wehrmacht were located at the current location before the war.
After that, the location was used by the police for decades.
Over the years the school has had different names. The last thing it was called was the MdI Officers School, which it ran until it was closed in 1990.
After reunification and a short transition period, the site was used again for police training and is still active today.
As a rule, around 750 police students are in training here.
In the meantime, the campus has been reduced in size and some buildings (such as the Kulturhaus) have been sold off.
This building has a kitchen, 1 lecture hall, 1 small theater hall, 2 larger halls, offices, cloakroom, some lounges as well as a large cinema and theater hall with almost 1,500 seats.
There were a total of 14 schools in the GDR that served police training and each of them specialized in a certain area (e.g. service dogs, intelligence, officers' school, etc.).
The very large building still offers some furnishings and has the typical charm that is known from East Germany.
